About Taigh Companion
Our why
My names Katie and I'm the founder of Taigh Companion.
About 2 years ago my grandads dementia got a lot worse to the point he needed a carer. He was falling from the bed, couldn't get dressed alone, and generally was losing his independence. He no longer felt himself, and we were worried about his safety- one fire engine visit is enough for any lifetime!
My background is engineering so I built him a few systems to help him along, his own personal assistant built into the home. Now my grandad is a big chatter, would make friends with a door given long enough, so within a week I had seven families reach out. Seven families who heard him bragging he could make his own tea and wanted that same joy in their loved ones.
From their Taigh Companion was born. We found the best way to help as many people as possible is to offer training, support, and easy software. Taking out barrier to use and helping more families just like mine.
How
So how does it work?
Firstly we run training sessions, in these we shop you a range of different smart home technology, let you play with them, show you how to set them up, and assist with any specific tasks you might have in mind. We also offer private training sessions for community groups, business, or care providers.
Once you've been trained your ready to start installing, don't panic were still on hand if you come up against any problems! We have recommended lists of technology that we think offer the best selection, we'll point you in their direction but we can support you with almost any smart home technology. Part of this support is our software. Our software makes set-up easy, with how to guide and step-by-step instructions.
With everything set-up your ready to go with new added support for you and your loved one.
The last piece of the puzzle is monitoring. Our software complies the data to give you an overview of how your loved one is doing. It can show fluid intake, wandering, hours of sleep, possible falls to name a few. Imagine being able to show the GP specific data, or knowing your loved one has only drunk 1 cup of tea, the peace of mind and wellbeing benefits are endless.
